The Wide Variety Of Girls Camps

Your young lady has decided that she would like to go to camp this summer.  You would feel better if she attended an all-girl camp, but you are afraid that this might limit her choices.  Well, think again!  There are a wide variety of girls camps out there – here are just a few you can consider.

Does your daughter have an interest in science?  Or, maybe you would like to introduce her to science, hoping it will spark an interest.  There are girls-only summer science camps out there.  One such girls camp is Attracting Women to Engineering, a summer camp for middle school girls.

The camp is designed to get girls interested in science and engineering through hands-on experience in experiments and investigations.  The girls also take field trips.  The girls learn the importance of the sciences and engineering in everyday life.  Other math and science camps include Camp Kaleidoscope, North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, and GirlStart Summer Camps.

No matter what your daughter is into, there is a girls camp for her.  Does she like all things fashion?  She can attend Fashion Camp USA.  This camp in Washington D.C. is aimed at teaching teenage girls about fashion, nutrition, fitness, hair, and makeup while building on their self-confidence.

Is she more of a sports buff?  How about a field hockey camp or surfing camp?  Penn State offers and girls-only field hockey camp for high school girls and field hockey teams.  Maui Surfer Girls focus on activities like yoga, arts and crafts, and wind surfing.

My daughter is only four, not quite ready for camp yet, but she loves to play games on the computer.  She can open her games, play, go online, and print.  She truly amazes me.  I expect with her interest in the computer that her father and I will be sending her to a girls camp geared toward technology.  For example, Microsoft offers DigiGirlz High Tech Camp.  The camp is designed for high school girls that have an interest in technology.  They get to participate in computing activities and interact with women working and achieving new heights in the field of technology.

Is your little girl a born performer?  Rock Camps for Girls may be for her.  This girls camp was designed to train girls between the ages of 6 and 18 to be the next generation of female rockers.  This day camp is not limited to rock and roll.  Participants can learn about hip hop, salsa, pop, and other musical genres.  Girls learn to play an instrument, write songs, perform live, and make things like buttons, t-shirts, and album art.

Talk to your daughter and find out what her interests are.  Encourage her to develop a new skill or further develop an interest that she already has.  What camp she attends will depend on those interests, what camps are available near you, and of course, the cost of the camp.

No matter where you live, and no matter what your daughter's interests are, there is a camp out there for her.  Even if you feel more comfortable having her at a girls camp, the possibilities are endless!
